This Spotlight is on the Bonefish and Tarpon Trust....

The Bonefish and Tarpon Trust is a group of guides, anglers and scientists (from over 20 countries around the world) that have joined efforts to protect Tarpon, Bonefish and Permit.  Over the last 16 years the BTT has become one of the leaders in conservation education and action... helping to ensure future anglers will have sport fish to target.

BTT Mission:

“To conserve and enhance global bonefish, tarpon and permit fisheries and their environments through stewardship, research, education and advocacy, as well as:

  1. Serving as a repository for information and knowledge related to the life cycle, behavior and well being of bonefish, tarpon and permit.

  2. Nurturing and enhancing bonefish, tarpon, and permit populations.

  3. Supporting research on bonefish, tarpon, and permit behavior and life cycles, and on bonefish, tarpon, and permit fisheries.

  4. Providing educational material to the public and fishermen

  5. Working with regulatory authorities and the public to ensure that the laws protecting these species are enforced

  6. Interacting with government agencies to assist in the management and regulations related to bonefish and tarpon.”

The BTT is highly involved with the fishing community through events like tournaments and symposiums.  The Monsignor Edward Pace High School Anglers Club is proud to join the BTT as a “Conservation Sponsor” and we look forward to being active members.  We plan to be participants in the many events they support and run.
